Elderberry (Sambucus Canadensis)

This beautiful tree could be a show stopping ornamental however, it has many benefits to being a part of your homes edible landscape.  Will grow into a shrub-like tree from 8-12' tall with clusters of white blooms, producing small purple to black colored berries in late summer, early fall.  Plant typically produces fruit in its second year.

Full sun/partial shade. Prefers well drained soil but can withstand wetter areas; drought tolerant once established.

Hardiness zones 4-9.

Traditionally the berries of the Elderyberry plant have been used to build the bodies immune system against attacks of nasty cold and flu viruses.
